Great Acoustic Music in an Intimate Setting

Log House Concerts is a house concert and workshop series in our home outside of Edwardsville, Illinois, in the St. Louis metropolitan area.  The series' focus is on great acoustic guitarists, as well as talented singer/songwriters.  

Concerts and workshops are by reservation only. 100% of all donations go to the artists. We do a voluntary potluck for concerts, BYOB (we provide coffee, tea, water), smoking outside only.

Join us February 25 for the first Log House concert of 2012, featuring the return of fingerstyle guitarist, singer and raconteur, George Worthmore    

George Worthmore, a star in the New York City music scene for over twenty years, began with a one-year stint as a guitarist with Kinky Friedman. He's played backup guitar for Bo Diddley, Ben E. King, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Lou Christy, and The Platters. He's also played shows as a second guitarist with Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Cassidy in Hot Tuna.

George studied with Dave Van Ronk and Ian Buchannon, both students of the Rev. Gary Davis. He had the honor of playing with Johnny Shines and Robert Jr. Lockwood when they were in New York City. He has also played as a regularly featured act at both Manny's Car Wash and Dan Lynch's Blues Bar, New York City top venues.

He made a career playing Rock'n'Roll and Rockabilly but his beginnings are in country blues. A true "Roots" guitarist, George is equally at home playing Surf music, or Country.

1n 2007, after an award winning 10 year run as owner of South Africa's premier blues club, George sold the Blues Room and returned to performing. His show is a tour de force of solo acoustic guitar, from Ragtime to Blues, with some Bach thrown in for the more serious appreciators of the instrument. The songs are interlaced with humorous comments and amusing stories about the songs and his life in music.
